Jameson Walkingstick Hughes born April 16, 2011

He's here!  He was born around 9:30 pm and is 8 lbs, 5 oz and 21 inches.  He had a rough start, aspirating, but he's fine now.  Jeannie is a trooper, it was a fast labor.  I love the way things change inside of me when a new baby is born.  The world becomes some place different and better.  Our family is different now.  We're better.  Welcome to the world, little guy.  You are already so very much loved.

I called Jeannie this morning and asked her if she wanted to come and have dinner with us.  She said no.  She didn't feel well, so I told her I'd come pick up the kids and take them to our place when we were in town later in the evening.  When I got there at about 4 she was contracting every 5 to 11 minutes.  Real contractions that made her stop and breathe. Del had to run to Wyoming and she had decided she was going to go to the hospital when he got home in the hopes they would induce her. She felt done.  And ready.  We took the girls to my parents' place and we hung out for a while. By the time we were leaving there Jeannie was contracting every 4 minutes, but they "weren't that bad".  Well, some of them were (so said Jeannie after breathing through another contraction).  She's tough, I'm tellin' ya!  We came home, decorated eggs, watching a movie and got the eggs hidden and the baskets ready.  Del called at about 10 pm with the good news.  Dad went to the hospital a bit earlier and helped Del give Jameson a blessing.

Mom sent me a text that said, "All is well."

Indeed.
