Fire

These blog posts are very out of order.  I'm trying to do some catch up on this unusually quiet Saturday evening.  It's nice to feel like we have nothing at all to do!

Last weekend, or maybe it was the weekend before last weekend, I can't really remember, Jeannie and Del came over for dinner and a sleepover.  We were being super hopeful that Jeannie would go into labor that night, and then their kids could just be here already and they could get up and go to the hospital without anyone else needing to wake up in the middle of the night.  We stayed up really late, and ate lots of really unhealthy foods.  I think we were up until midnight - I can't even remember the last time I stayed up that late.  While we were sitting on the couch Jeannie asked if that red light was always on at night, and after investigating further, we realized there was a huge fire in the foothills, very close to where Mom keeps her horses.  This picture does the blaze no justice at all.  It was monstrous, and scary!  The fire was eventually contained, but several homes were lost.  :(

  1. When I use my imagination that picture of the fire does look monstrous and scary.

Here in SoCal, we call that summer time.

  2. hahahahaa! Loyd, click on the picture and you can see it in a bigger size. Still doesn't do it justice, but consider that the fire was about 50 miles away. :)
