Motherhood and Friendship

Today Nicole and I made butter tarts together.  Isn't she beautiful?  As we worked and played and talked together I gratefully noticed that Nicole and I are the most special sort of friends.  I have a special bond with my dear mother, and I'm so thankful we're friends, and I've always hoped that my own daughters will want to be my friends.  At one point during the process, Nicole sweetly laid her head on my shoulder and said, "I love you, Mom."  I know I will always be her mother, but we can also be the dearest sort of friends, and I am grateful for that.

  2. What beautiful pictures! You are a lucky momma! We are heavily in the teen years in our house, and while most of the time we have a great relationship, we are definitely having more attitude moments. I just have to remind myself that I was like that, too, as a teen and now my mom is my best friend. We are so lucky to have been blessed with daughters!

  4. That read to me as an Anne of Green Gables passage. And I mean that as the highest sort of compliment.
